Thank you for choosing Schema! We know terms of use can be dry, so we've kept them as clear and short as possible. If you have any questions or concerns about these terms, please reach out to us at support@tryschema.com – we'll be happy to help. By using Schema (the “App”), you agree to the following terms. If you don't agree, please do not use the App.
No accounts or tracking: Schema does not require you to create an account, and we do not collect or track any personal data. Everything you do in Schema stays on your device.
Local storage only: All your notes and data are stored locally on your iPhone/iPad. We have no server-side copy of your data. The only exception is if you use Schema's expiring link feature – in that case, your data is temporarily encrypted on our server to generate the link, and it's automatically deleted once the link expires. We never permanently store your content on our servers.
Your responsibility: Because your data lives only on your device, you are responsible for backing it up. We can't recover lost data if you delete the app or lose your device. (Simply put: we're not liable for any lost or corrupted user data.)
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Schema on your devices, in accordance with these terms and Apple's App Store rules. This means you can use the app for yourself, but you can't do certain things that break our rights or the law. In particular, you agree not to:
All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved by us (the makers of Schema).
The Schema app (including its name, logo, and code) is our intellectual property. Using Schema doesn't give you ownership of the app or our trademarks – it only gives you the above license to use the app. Please don't use our name or logo in a way that confuses others that you are associated with us.
Because data is stored only on your device, if you delete the app, the data is deleted from your device as well. (If you have iCloud backups or device backups that include Schema's data, those are stored by Apple under their privacy and security policies — Schema itself doesn't transmit any data to cloud backups on its own, beyond what iOS does if you have backups enabled.)
Any content you create with Schema is yours. We don't have any rights to your notes or data. Since we don't collect your content, we also aren't responsible for it. You're free to export or back up your data at any time.
Schema is provided “as is”. This means we make no warranties or promises that the app will be perfect or meet all your needs. While we hope you enjoy using Schema, we don't guarantee that it is free of bugs or errors, or that it will work flawlessly with every device or OS update. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, about Schema's quality, performance, or fitness for a particular purpose. Use the app at your own risk.
Under no circumstances will we (the creators of Schema) be liable for any indirect damages or losses arising from your use of the app. In plain language, we are not responsible for any loss of data, lost profits, or other damages that may result from using (or inability to use) Schema. If, notwithstanding this, we are found liable for any issue, our liability will be limited to the amount you paid for the app (if anything). Some jurisdictions don't allow certain liability limitations, so this clause will apply to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
These Terms of Use do not replace or override any terms set by Apple. Your use of Schema is also subject to Apple's App Store Licensed Application End User License Agreement and other App Store policies. In case of any conflict between our terms and Apple's terms, the Apple terms will govern. We and you must abide by all App Store rules in using and distributing Schema. (For example, Apple is not responsible for Schema or its contents – we are.)
We may update or modify these Terms of Use from time to time (for example, if we add new features or if laws change). If we do, we will notify you by posting the updated terms in the app or on our website and updating the “Last Updated” date. Continued use of Schema after a terms update means you accept the new terms. If you don't agree with the changes, you should stop using the app.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA (or the laws of your country or state of residence if required by applicable law), without regard to its conflict of law principles. If any dispute arises about these terms or your use of Schema, it will be resolved under the applicable laws mentioned above. Additionally, if any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest of the terms will still apply.
We're a small team that cares about our users. If you have any questions, feedback, or need help regarding these Terms of Use or the app itself, please contact us at support@tryschema.com. We will do our best to assist you.
We will respond as promptly as possible. Privacy is core to Schema's mission, and we value the trust you place in us. If something isn't clear in this policy or you need further information, let us know and we will clarify.
By using Schema, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these Terms of Use. Enjoy using the app, and thanks for supporting Schema!
